Today should have marked the official opening of South Miami's newest restaurant, Station 5 Table & Bar, but a rep tells us they restaurant has pushed the opening. "I wanted to come to Miami because the food landscape is much more open-minded than that of other major cities," says Julia Ning, their chef, as to why she chose the Miami project. Once Staion 5 does open, she'll be serving up her own take on classic American dishes like salt and pepper tacos with starfruit and apple slaw and slow braised pork with ham hock bean and kale. Decor wise, think rustic and vintage. The new neighborhood restaurant boasts items like hand-picked vintage plates, reconditioned furniture, sanded down and refinished by the staff and their family and friends, hanging glass terrariums with vintage light bulbs, tea light candles, and antique jars. Station 5 will be open Tuesday through Thursday, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Here's a sneak peek of the menu, posted today on their Instagram.
