Khong's New Brunch; Balans' Dueling Dishes

SOUTH BEACH — Back in June, The Social Club welcomed their newly appointed executive chef Blair Wilson, and he's recently launched an entirely new menu. Highlights include "Social Plates" like ahi tuna, St. Louis style ribs and grilled camembert; medium plates like the social club burger; and large plates like seared local cobia. [EaterWire]

UPPER EAST SIDE — Starting tonight, August 7, Balans on Biscayne Boulevard is hosting a weekly Thursday night series of "Dueling Dishes" and having the public solve their culinary conundrum of what offerings should be placed on their new menu. Every Thursday night, chef David Welch will be serving up two courses for $30, from which guests can vote on their favorite. By September, Balans will tally up the winners and announce their new fall menu. Until then, those who RSVP to Dueling Dishes by booking a table at the restaurant will have their names placed into a weekly raffle for a chance to win a $50 gift card. [EaterWire]

SOUTH BEACH — It's about time Khong River House hops on the brunch wagon with the rest of the 50 Eggs restaurants. The Lincoln road hot spot recently debuted a brunch menu (for the first time since it opened two years ago!), and Short Order gets a preview. Think classics with a Thai twist like coconut sesame, moo shu breakfast wraps and more. [SO]

Each week AOC will feature a different plate and wine pairing for $25 per person and will include two glasses of wine and two small plates. Oak Tavern will also be launching an extensive wood oven pizza menu during their late-night bar hours on Friday and Saturdays. From 11 p.m. until 2 a.m. hungry night owls can enjoy pizzas straight from the oven for $10. [EaterWire]
