There having been rumors swirling that Richard Hales newest concept, Centro Taco, would be closing up shop soon for good – and this seems to be true and not true all at the same time.
Hales told Eater that he plans to close the Downtown location within the next two weeks and begin hosting a nightly Centro Taco pop-up at Midtown’s Angelina’s Café – which is right next door to his Blackbrick Chinese restaurant – while he looks for a permanent home for Centro Taco on Miami Beach.
Hales says that Centro Taco had been struggling due to low levels of activity in the area, especially on the weekends and evenings when Downtown Miami doesn’t have its usual business foot traffic. As for when the Downtown location will close for good, Hales says right now it’s being played day-by-day, but we just know it will happen within the next two weeks. Stay tuned for more details.
