Last month we brought you news that a "culinary incubator" was headed to Wynwood called The Wynwood Yard. There weren't many details about it but now as it gets closer to opening up more details are emerging.
1) Ryan Goodspeed has returned — We weren't entirely sure where Goodspeed would end up after he parted ways with the Genuine Hospitality Group, and now we know. He's partnering up with Ken Lyon, chef and owner of Lyon + Lyon catering and Lyon Freres Petit Marche, to help develop and manage an beverage program for The Wynwood Yard under his new doctordrinks consultancy. The 24 x 18-foot stainless steel bar on the site plans to serve cocktails, beer, wine and coffee.
2) There will be a mini-farm on site — Muriel Olivares and Tiffany Noe of Little River Cooperative are planting and caring for the large raised bed gardens at the property. Planting has already begun with things like baby arugula, kale, herbs and heirloom tomatoes. Some of the produce will be used by the food trucks on site, as well as by the bar. Some of it will also be sold on site.
3) Plenty of mentors are helping out — The space has tapped quite the "culinary council" of chef mentors to give guidance to the participants including Norman Van Aken, Michelle Bernstein, Jeffrey Brana, Sam Gorenstein, Brad Kilgore, Ken Lyon and Manuel Sulbaran. The chefs will regularly visit the site during the first cohort of trucks' tenure at The Yard.
We're told the space is set to open in mid-November. Stay tuned for more details.
