Here's What You Need to Know About the Alinea Miami Pop-Up

Housed inside the Faena Hotel

Alinea Miami

The day Miami food enthusiasts have been waiting for is upon us — we finally have details about the Alinea Miami pop-up coming to Miami Beach in early 2016.

The main facts are this: the pop-up will take over the main dining room inside the Faena Hotel from February 17 through March 13. Alinea will host 20 dinners in total during that time with 86 covers per night. The massive 18-course meal will range in price from $275 to $385 (based on the time of week) with an optional wine pairing ranging from $150 to $495. Most importantly, tickets go on sale next Wednesday, December 2 at 11 a.m. EST.

The reason why Alinea is heading to our sandy beaches? The restaurant is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and is temporarily closing the Chicago location in order to completely remodel it. To give their team something to do in the meantime the restaurant decided upon a series of pop-ups, one in Madrid, Spain and one in Miami.

"We had offers from all over the place really," says Nick Kokonas, co-founder and co-owner of Alinea. "In many ways I think doing Alinea in something like London and New York is very predictable and doing it in Miami, there's nothing to my knowledge like it down there."

While Kokonas wouldn't reveal what will be on the elaborate 18-course menu — it's their policy to never divulge the dishes ahead of time he noted — he says expect plenty of influences from South America, Cuba, and of course, Miami.

"What we are trying accomplish is to create a completely unique experience that makes sense within that space," Kokonas. "I think too many restaurants when they move a restaurant, be it permanently or pop-up, they don't really take into consideration to where they are."

The restaurant's star chef, Grant Achatz, will of course be spearheading the kitchen, along with 42 of the Alinea's staff running the pop-up. They plan on making hotel's dining room space feel more "intimate" by closing off the outside and the lounge.

Kokonas says interest is high for the dinners, not only in Miami but throughout the country with a few already bought out by private groups. So if you're interested in going to the dining extravaganza make sure to mark your calendar for December 2 to reserve your spot here.
