Looking to bring its fried chicken to the masses, it was reported by the Wall Street Journal that 50 Eggs Restaurant Group is opening Lewellyn's Chicken & Biscuits, a fast-casual fried chicken spot, this summer at the University of Miami campus.
The concept, named after 50 Eggs CEO John Kunkel's grandmother, will serve the same fried chicken that's found in 50 Eggs ever-popular Yardbird Southern Table & Bar. Kunkel tells the WSJ that he hopes to, "do for fried chicken what Shake Shack has done for burgers."
Apparently 50 Eggs thinks it has a hit on its hands because plans for a second outpost of the Lewellyn's are already in the works inside Miami International Airport. No official opening date yet. Stay turned for updates. [Wall Street Journal]
