Miami has two new reservation apps both launching over the past few days called Resy and Table 8.
Both promise the opportunity to make reservations at some of Miami's most "in demand" restaurants during peak hours (i.e. 8 p.m. on a Saturday night) for a price anywhere between $15-25. Other not-so-peak times are typically free.
But we couldn't help but notice the similarities in the apps. For starters both have big-name investors, Eater co-founder Ben Leventhal for Resy and former Twitter exec Santosh Jayaram for Table 8. Also, they both feature only a handful of restaurants with seemingly lots of overlap. Most notably three of the 50 Eggs concepts including Yardbird, Swine and Khong are featured on Resy and Table 8, with 50 Eggs CEO John Kunkel even providing quotes in the press releases for both apps.
It remains to be seen how these apps will impact reservations, but for now they are both up and running and free to download. You can find Resy here and Table 8 this way.
