Myumi Sushi Offers a Traditional Omakase Experience — Out of a Food Truck in Wynwood

Brought to you by two New Yorkers

For fans of omakase, the Japanese style of sushi that allows the chef to choose the dishes, choices of places to go in Miami are few and far between. But now there's another to add to the list: Myumi Sushi in Wynwood.

Just opened last week the industrial-looking, hip-hop playing truck only seats six people at the time (with hopes to expand to 12 in the near future) offering $40 and $60 chef's choice tasting menu made right in front of diners.

The food truck is the brainchild of Williamsburg's 1or8 chef Kazuo Yoshida and former TV producer Jake Smith. After a successful stint in the Hamptons last summer they decided to bring Myumi Sushi down to Miami and find it a permanent home, which they did in Wynwood at 160 NW 26th Street right next door to another popular food outpost, Gastropod.

The food truck is open Tuesday through Sunday from 6 to 11 p.m. with seatings every hour on the hour. The menu rotates daily based on availability of fish and ingredients but expect traditional nigiri topped with amberjack, toro and shrimp along with more unique offerings like fluke topped with flambéed sake and egg yolk or sea urchin and salmon roe. As for drinks, the truck does offer water and tea but for the stronger stuff is BYOB.

Reservations are highly encouraged and can be made by calling 305-915-9819 or sending an email to reservations@myumifoods.com.
