There must be something in the water as there are more than a few chef changes to report this week.
Miami.com reported that James Seyba formerly of 27 Restaurant — and briefly at Cena by Michy — has made his way over to Richard Hales' new concept, Centro Taco, to head up that kitchen. Down the street at the soon-to-be-open Laffa Mediterranean Kitchen, former BLT Steak chef Daniel Ganem teamed up with his old boss and Laffa owner, Sam Gorenstein, to help debut that concept coming our way in August. And finally, Cindy Hutson is bringing in Mike Fischetti, the executive chef of her Cayman Island restaurant, to spearhead her new Zest and Zest Mrkt concepts opening later this year.
Over at the Miami New Times, it's reporting that Toscana Divino's longtime chef Julian Baker has left to Texas. Taking over for him is his old sous chef is Billy Devlin who plans to revamp the menu.
We are also hearing from more than one source that shake ups in the kitchen at a popular Miami Beach restaurant — known for its fried chicken and extensive bourbon selection — are going to be announced shortly. More details on that soon.
