Property that restaurant is on has been sold and space will be demolished

Oak Tavern

Over the weekend word of Oak Tavern's closing ran rampant on social media. According to the chatter the restaurant's employees were informed that this would be its last week in business. The Design District restaurant currently sits on a piece of property that was recently purchased and the new owner is demolishing the block to make way for a condo-development.

Eater contacted the restaurant and it confirmed to us that its last service is indeed this Sunday, May 10. But this isn't the last we will see of the restaurant as a rep over the phone told us it plans to re-open in a new location in time for "season." No spot has been determined yet but they told us that eyeing Coconut Grove neighborhood for Oak Tavern version 2.0. Stay tuned for more updates.
