Starting today you can get your fill of pizza and Mediterranean cuisine at the now open Crust from former Trio on the Bay chef Klime Kovaceski and his wife Anita.
The chef who has more than 20 years of experience in the fine dining world says this newest concept "is not some nostalgic waltz into my past, I'll leave the greatest hits routine to aging rockstars."
Instead of the white tablecloth worthy food, expect dishes like its signature Crust Pizza made with fig, prosciutto and blue cheese; an array of sandwiches ranging from Cuban to Philly Cheesesteaks; pastas and risottos and Mediterranean-influenced entrees like lamb chops and shrimp kebabs.
The restaurant itself is housed in a formerly private home builtin the 1950s, right on the Miami River. The 2,400-square-foot space has a 50-seat dining room, a "lengthy bar" and plans to open its 40-seat patio in the "near future."
Crust is located at 668 N.W. 5th Street and is open Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday until 11 p.m.
