Over the weekend, Miami.com reported that Oolite had closed its restaurant operations amid eviction proceedings.
It seems like Oolite owes the city of Miami Beach a lot of money in back rent — close to half a million dollars, according to Miami.com. Eviction proceedings apparently started back in March with a hearing happening on August 14.
The restaurant's owners, including chef-owner Kris Wessel, have been "working to raise capital and have asked for a rent reduction" according to Miami.com. But for now, the restaurant is closed but the bar area remains open. [Miami.com]
