While we may still be trying to catch up on the whole "tiki" trend, South Florida is proving that some old standbys are doing the classic drink very well. Yesterday, Critiki, a site that is part travel guide and part "historic archive of Polynesian Pop culture hotspots around the world," named Mai-Kai Restaurant and Polynesian Show in Fort Lauderdale the number one tiki bar in the world for 2015.
The 60-year-old spot ranked a 9.8 out 10 score with the publication commenting that, "There’s simply no matching the Mai-Kai, in either the grand scale, or the minute attention to detail in the decor."
The selections are voted upon by the 6,000 members of the Critiki community who are described by the site as, "tiki lovers who have shared their stories, mementos, pictures, and over 50,000 ratings" on the site. Check out the rest of the winners this way.
