Wynwood is not typically known for having cozy, albeit traditional, restaurants. But that could be changing with the now-open Jack’s Home Cooking.
The brainchild of JP Parlavechio, who has been in the restaurant industry in South Florida for more than 20 years, alongside Alan Roth, it’ll feature a menu based on “what your mother and grandmother” is known for making. Think Italian classics like chicken parmesan, shrimp scampi, calamari, eggplant rollatini, spaghetti meatballs, along with other non-Italian dishes like braised short ribs, grilled wild salmon, and seafood salad.
Taking over the former Jean Paul's House space at 2426 NE 2nd Avenue, the restaurant keeps with the cozy, familiar theme, channeling the look and feel of an Italian Trattoria with hardwood floors, simple tables and chalkboard and wooden walls.
As for those rumors that the restaurant is named after a silent investor — who also happens to be a very famous golf pro by the same first name — the best we could get was “no comment.” And we were told that’s the only answer we’ll ever get.
Jack’s Home Cooking is now Tuesday to Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m. with lunch service beginning mid-January 2017.
