One of the original Mango Gang's members is making his triumphant return to South Florida this Fall. James Beard award winning chef Norman Van Aken is bringing two new culinary outposts to East End Capital’s soon-to-be-open Wynwood Arcade complex at 50 NW 24th Street, which also will be home to the The Salty Donut’s future brick-and-mortar location.
The space will feature a cooking school, led by Van Aken, called "In the Kitchen with Norman Van Aken" along with a yet-to-be named restaurant concept, both slated to open later this year. While the school was originally planned to go inside the refurbished Vagabond Hotel, Van Aken tells Eater Miami that the plans fell through for that location but he is still on very good terms with the team.
The cooking school will take over 2,200-square-feet of the space will "offer programs that span the globe and cover the gamut of cooking techniques." For the neighboring 5,500-square-foot restaurant, Van Aken has teamed up with Candace Walsh and Susan Buckley to create a concept that will feature his signature eats along with a Wynwood’s first rooftop bar and lounge space.
