This weekend Dragonfly Izakaya & Fish Market opens its third location in Florida — its first in South Florida — inside Downtown Doral at 5241 NW 87th Avenue. The restaurant, which has quite the following in Gainesville and Orlando, is housed in a 6,000-square-foot space featuring both a main dining room and a traditional fish market that is modeled after the famous Tsukiji Fish Market in Japan.
Inspired by traditional izakayas Dragonfly features a bevy of Japanese comfort food-inspired dishes like Japanese seafood pancakes with shrimp, octopus and squid; garlic blue crab fried rice; neck-to-tail chicken tastings menu, and plenty of seafood and traditional sushi rolls.
As for drinks, it features a “Japanese ice program,” an “award-winning Japanese whiskey list” and a seasonal Omakase cocktail menu. And since the space is modeled after a famous market it also, naturally, houses a market selling things like meat rubs, Japanese White Shoyu and Kentucky Bluegrass Soy Sauces, whole local fish, rice mixes, sauces, and dressings.
The restaurant officially opens Saturday, April 9 and will initially open with dinner-only Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m. with lunch and brunch in the works. The market will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
