Over the weekend, the food world got word that Asian semi-newcomer, Bazi, was closing on Sunday, May 1, after just eight months of service.
The highly-anticipated restaurant from the team behind Macchialina, Mike Pirolo and Jen Chaefsky, opened last September inside the Marlin Hotel to much praise earning a 3.5 star review in the Miami Herald. But it seems that things weren’t going as smoothly as planned with the team releasing a statement over the weekend saying:
Though we’ve been overwhelmed by how the community has embraced Bazi, business unfortunately has not developed as we’ve hoped. With a heavy heart we have made the decision to close the restaurant as of Sunday, May 1.
The duo plan to shift their focus back to their other South Beach restaurant, Macchialina, which is celebrating its four-year anniversary this June.
