Earlier this month The Federal closed its doors to do an extreme revamp and transform into The Fed. Its owners Cesar Zapata and Ani Meinhold reworked the interiors, which are now decorated in a "Miami vice-inspired color palette" of neon’s and bright colors accented by commissioned works by local artist, Miguel Paredes. Also new are flat screen TVs and an extended bar area. The menu is noticeably lighter than its previous incarnation with dishes like Cilantro Edamame Hummus, Salmon Poke, baked tostadas, build-your-own bowls and Mexican-style torta sandwiches. But for those missing The Federal decadent signature dishes, The Fed preserving a "best of" brunch appropriately named "The Federal Brunch." The Fed is located at 5132 Biscayne Boulevard and is open Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 10p.m., Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
