The Federal Food, Drink & Provisions To Close and Reopen as The Fed

A whole new look and healthier menu is on its way

The Federal

After five years of business the duo behind The Federal Food, Drink & Provisions, Cesar Zapata and Ani Meinhold, announced that they are closing the restaurant on Mother’s Day, May 8, to completely revamp it and debut a new concept, The Fed, on May 17.

According to reps, the restaurant will undergo a "design enhancement" and then reopen with a new look, entirely new menu — except for brunch, that’s sticking around — and new name.

The Fed will have a healthier and more budget friendly focused menu, aiming to be a restaurant where one can "can afford to dine out two to three times a week." Zapata’s Texas roots will show through the new menu, which will have a "large selection of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and paleo options" like cauliflower rice with quinoa, hand-pressed and baked tostadas, vegan veggie "bowls" and Zapata's interpretation of fajitas dubbed "skillets." But if you’re missing the Federal classics like crisped pig wings and BBQ dishes, those will still make an appearance on the weekends.

The last day of service for The Federal is May 8.The Fed will debut on May 17 and will be open Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and closed Monday. For reservation call 305-758-9559.
