Last week, Jose Gonzalez, an employee of North Miami’s Mimmo's Mozzarella Italian Market was found dead inside the restaurant after apparently being shot on property, according to various online reports.
The employee of the popular market was discovered dead at roughly 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, after someone drove by and saw a door open after closing hours and alerted the authorities.
In a statement from police:
"A concerned citizen drove by, saw the business still open after hours, so he made a call to us to just check it out," said North Miami-Dade Police Officer Natalie Buissereth. "Upon arriving, officers discovered the employee on the ground."
No word on exactly what happened or what motives were involved, but police are currently treating the situation as a homicide. The restaurant has been closed since the incident, reopening today.
