Joining the list of upcoming restaurants coming to the area

Yesterday the Miami Design District released an announcement featuring a whole new slew of upcoming tenants coming to the area in the next year. Amongst them were two new restaurant offerings: Estefan Kitchen and The Smile.

The long talked about Cuban-inspired concept, Estefan Kitchen, "will feature traditional, family recipes presented in a new, healthy way that will appeal to both locals and our international guests," Emilio Estefan told The Miami Herald. He also noted that he plans to open a location of Estefan Kitchen inside the airport.

An outpost of NYC’s The Smile will also set up shop in the ever growing neighborhood. The restaurant has four locations in Manhattan with this being its first one outside of New York. For the South Florida edition of The Smile, the restaurant plans to serve up a menu of coffee, baked goods, snacks and sandwiches in "an airy, laid-back workspace environment."

These restaurants join the ranks of already announced, upcoming eateries from mega chefs Joël Robuchon and Jean-Georges Vongerichten also coming to the neighborhood. No official opening date has been set for either The Smile of Estefan Kitchen. Stay tuned for more updates. [Miami Herald]
