MiMo Gets a New Cuban and Boxing Themed Watering Hole

In the former News Lounge space

Inspired by a boxing-themed bar they visited in Cuba, the team behind places like El Patio and White Feather, have opened their latest concept last week called Punch.

Taking over the former News Lounge space, the massive 9,000 square foot indoor/outdoor bar in Mimo features a boxing ring in the middle of the space along with a 25-foot scaffolding at the bar with a Cuban flag flying high above. The outdoor portion is a nod to Cuba, brightly decorated with room to dance and to, of course, play dominoes.

On the menu at Punch are mojito-based punches, which are meant to be shared, served in fish-bowl sized urns with spigots, along with plenty of rums, cigars and a daily happy hour.

"Comfort Cuban bar food" is also on the menu, think dishes like coquetas, rope vieja with tostones, and Cuban sandwich sliders. PUNCH is located at 5580 NE 4th Court, in Miami’s Mimo District and is open Wednesday through Saturday from 5p.m. until 3am.
