The highly anticipated opening of Tanuki is officially here. The Pan-Asian restaurant chain has over 60 international locations and chose Alton Road to debut its first U.S. venue.
Staying true to South Beach's grandiose rep, the menu will feature over 150 items including sushi, sashimi, specialty rolls, dim sum and a complementary traditional tea service offered at the beginning of the meal. For those who opt out of the tea, Tanuki's cocktail menu also highlights Asian ingredients in its traditional libations.
Diners will be greeted by a giant statue of the Tanuki itself, a Japanese raccoon dog known in folklore as a mischievous and jolly master of disguise, surrounded by barn-wood walls, steel beams and an open kitchen. The combined indoor and outdoor dining areas will accommodate 100 people.
Tanuki is now open for lunch, dinner and late night on 1080 Alton Rd. from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.
