Popular NYC eatery Upland is heading down south — to South Beach to be exact. Restaurant reps confirmed to Eater Miami that the popular California-style restaurant from chef Justin Smillie and Philly-based restaurateur Stephen Starr is opening up its second outpost in South Beach's South of Fifth neighborhood at 49 Collins Avenue.
The space will be designed by Roman and Williams who collaborated with Starr on Upland NYC as well. While this is Smillie's first project down here in sunny South Florida, it's certainly not Starr's first foray into the market. Upland will be Starr’s fifth active restaurant in South Florida including Steak 954, Makoto, The Continental and Le Zoo.
No opening date has been released. Stay tuned for more details.
