One of Miami’s beloved doughnut brands, Velvet Creme, has been plotting a return to the Miami market after a 15 year hiatus — and it seems to have finally found the spot to do so. The Miami New Times is reporting that the brand is taking up shop in Little Havana, a few doors down from Ball & Chain.
This brings the brand full circle, as its first shop opened on Calle Ocho in 1947, right in the same area as the new one will be. The owners were originally eyeing a brick-and-mortar store in Little River and Miami Shores but couldn’t seem to settle on a location.
No word on when the permanent spot might open, but when it does it will feature a variety of doughnuts from traditional to guava ‘n’ cheese, plus coffee, soft-serve and even make-your-own custom doughnuts with a variety of topping options, according to the Miami New Times. Stay tuned for more updates. [Miami New Times]
