Ten different Florida restaurants — and seven within South Florida — made Restaurant Business’ list of 100 top-grossing independent restaurants for 2016. Coming in second place to Las Vegas’ Tao clubstaurant was South Beach landmark Joe’s Stone Crab that reportedly raked in more than $37 million in 2016, which isn’t too shabby for a restaurant who’s star menu item isn’t available four months out of the year.

Also making the list was Prime 112 (13th place) with a reported $23.1 million in revenue, Komodo (51st place) with a reported $16.25 million, Dania Beach’s Rustic Inn (73rd place) with a reported $14.65 million, 15th Street Fisheries (81st place) with a reported $14.2 million, and Bal Harbour eateries Makoto (97th place) at a reported $13.91 million and Carpaccio (99th place) at a reported $13 million.

Other Florida restaurants didn’t do bad themselves, with Eater.com pointing out that Orlando-based The Boathouse Orlando managed to climb from the 61st spot in last year’s list to up to number 6 for 2016.

As for these numbers, it should be noted that they are self-reported and based on gross 2016 food and beverage sales. When data was not provided, Restaurant Business “estimated based on public information, similar concepts, and other factors.” Restaurants with only five or fewer locations could be considered.
