Seafood and Frozen Cocktails are the Stars at South Miami’s Shelley’s

From a Broken Shaker vet and a former Alter chef

South Miami is quietly stepping up its culinary game. The latest addition to the neighborhood is Shelley’s, a seafood-centric restaurant that has taken over the form Station 5 space at 5845 Sunset Drive.

The 30-seat restaurant is spearheaded by Broken Shaker alum Brian Griffiths and chef Cleophus Hethington, who is is a vet of several popular spots around town like Alter, Matador Room, Yardbird, and the Optimist in Atlanta. The menu rotates frequently but expect items like mofongo fritters, fried oysters and mushrooms, lobster rolls, fish and chips, a raw bar, and massive fish collars that are meant to be shared.

As for drinks, Griffiths menu showcases bottled, draft and frozen libations like a bottled aperol spritz, moscow mules on draft and assortment of house drinks like the El Demonio made with tequila, blackberry, habenero, galanga and citrus.

The restaurant is now open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Call 786-534-7830 for more information.
