Sergio’s Restaurant, a classic Miami spot for croquetas, is getting into Miami’s fast casual boom. Sergio’s Family Restaurant’s CEO Carlos Gazitua just announced that he’ll launch a new fast-casual franchise called Sergio’s Cuban, which will serve up customizable, healthful dishes.
The menu is inspired in part by Sergio's “La Flaca" menu, which serves up dishes under 500 calories and with less than 500mg of sodium. Then there’s the whole “choose-your-own-adventure” aspect behind Sergio’s Cuban. Diners can build their own bowls, sandwiches, and platters from options like lean turkey picadillo with organic quinoa, boiled yuca, artisan greens, cauliflower rice, and chopped bite-sized platanitos. Sergio's empanadas and flaky pastelitos will also be available, along with cafecito, nitro café con leche, and fresh juices.
Right now, 25 Sergio’s Cuban locations are in the works, with openings planned throughout South Florida. The very first Sergio’s Cuban franchise is slated to open in North Miami in January 2018, with grand opening event scheduled for that month as well.
