FORT LAUDERDALE — South Florida’s first ever South African themed fast casual chicken restaurant has officially opened its doors. Called Spatch Grilled Peri-Peri Chicken, it is located at 3848 North Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale, the eat-in or take-out fast-casual restaurant is based on the traditional split and flattened grilled chicken that is tossed in traditional Peri Peri — i.e. African Bird’s Eye Chili— sauce. Guests can order in salads, bowls, sandwiches and platter form with sides like quinoa salad and sweet potato mash. The restaurant is now open Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10:30p.m.
MIDTOWN — The second outpost of Rubio’s Coastal Grill has opened in South Florida, this time in the former Lime Grill spot in Midtown at 3201 North Miami Avenue. The 30-year-old fast casual chain serves seafood tacos, burritos to California Bowls and salads.Call 786-655-8260 for more information.
DOWNTOWN MIAMI — What was once all-night speakeasy Libertine has now transformed into Floyd Miami, a cocktail lounge featuring DJ sets, live jazz, disco, house music that is “always rooted in jazz,” plus a variety of classic cocktails like the Penicillin. The space is located at 34 NE 11th Street and is open from 10 p.m. to “whenever” every Thursday to Saturday.
BRICKELL — Offering up what it calls “mercado style dining,” Brickell City Centre’s newcomer Tacology offers a variety of tacos, gaucs, ceviches and salads served at various stations in the restaurant, plus plenty of margaritas served in a variety of different flavors. The restaurant is open daily from noon to 11:30 p.m. at 701 South Miami Avenue.
