And just like that, Fall is here. While South Florida’s temperatures may only dip a few degrees between the summer and fall months, the influx of new restaurants coming into town is certainly noticeable. Here are the 15 most exciting new restaurant openings this season.
Abi Maria
Location: 8880 SW 72 Place, Miami
Key Players: Jorgie Ramos and the Barley Team
Projected Opening: Mid-October 2017
A new bar from the team behind Kendall’s Barley, it’ll be inspired by pre-Castro Havana featuring classic Latin cocktails, frozen drinks like Daiquiris, an oyster program and light bites.
Amara at Paraiso
Location: 3101 NE 7th Avenue, Miami
Key Players: Michael Schwartz
Projected Opening: November 2017
Michael Schwartz’s much anticipated Edgewater debut, this massive 4,500-square-foot waterfront space will feature cuisine cooked on a wood grill and Josper charcoal grill oven.
Burtons Grill & Bar
Location: 5580 North Military Trail, Boca Raton
Key Players: Kevin Harron, Winston Guerrero
Projected Opening: October 2017
A health-focused chain featuring American cuisine is debuting its first Florida location later this year. Burtons Grill & Bar emphasizes allergy awareness and offers vegetarian, paleo and gluten-free options, as well as half portions. It also promises to modify anything to a guest’s “needs, wants or liking.”

Chuy's
Location: 8001 NW 36th Street, Doral
Projected Opening: December 2017
Texas Tex-Mex favorite Chuy's is opening its first outpost of inside the Sunshine State in Doral. Best known for its funky decor and its free, unlimited, build-your-own nacho station housed in the trunk of a vintage car, it also features items like traditional Tex-Mex fare like stuffed chile rellenos, enchiladas and “Big As Yo’ Face Burritos.”
Coco Bambu
Location: 955 Alton Rd, Miami Beach
Key Players: Founders Afranio and Daniela Barreira, who opened Coco Bambu in 2001, along with Felipe Luna, Marcelo Gomes and Leo Pessoa.
Projected Opening: Early September 2017
Coco Bambu is a Brazilian seafood import, focusing on traditional and modern cooking techniques to create internationally-inspired, sharable and affordable dishes. The restaurant will sit up to 450 patrons.
La Centrale Miami
Location: 701 South Miami Ave, Miami (Ground-level entrance facing 6th Street)
Key Players: Jacopo Giustiniani and Matthias Kiehm
Projected Opening: December 2017
A three-floor, 40,000-square foot Italian food hall inside Brickell City Centre it’ll feature a 5,000-square-foot, grab-and-go market, a seafood restaurant called Pesce, a seasonal Italian spot named Stagionale, a wine cellar, a Chianti region inspired meat-centric spot called Carne, and a pizza and pasta focused restaurant.

Malibu Farm

A farm-to-table concept setup in the swanky Nobu Hotel, it’ll feature plenty of garden inspired dishes, local fish and wood-fired pizzas.
Obra Kitchen Table

One of Venezuela’s most lauded chefs, Carlos Garcia, will open his first stateside concept, Obra Kitchen Table. Garcia’s restaurant, Alto, which he opened in Caracas, Venezuela in 2007, has been on the “World’s 50 Best” list since 2013 and has remained on the list as “The Best Restaurant in Venezuela” for four consecutive years.
Pink Rock Sea
Location: 214 Española Way, Miami Beach

A poke bowl concept located on Española Way, offering make-your-own bowls in an Art Deco inspired setting.
Pompano Beach House
Location: 10 North Pompano Beach Boulevard, Pompano Beach

Projected Opening: Fall 2017
This marks the first restaurant to open as part of the Pompano Pier Redevelopment and the fifth concept to open in South Florida for the Ohio-based Brimstone Restaurant Group. The space will feature ocean views, while its menu will offer a little bit of everything from flatbreads, to sushi, to poutine.

Stiltsville Fish Bar
Location: 1787 Purdy Avenue on Miami Beach
Key Players: Grove Bay Hospitality Group (GBHG) and duo Jeff McInnis and Janine Booth

A seafood restaurant featuring classic and modern techniques, paired with a beverage menu of Key West style drinks. The two-story locale will feature an open dining room on the first floor, with a large bar and a nautical inspired motif and a color palette rich with blue hues and sandy undertones.
Stubborn Seed
Location: 101 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach
Key Players: Top Chef winner Jeremy Ford, Grove Bay Hospitality Group, Joe Mizzoni
Projected Opening: September 2017
The first of two restaurants between Ford and Grove Bay Hospitality Group, it’ll feature a rotating menu that is meant to be shared at the table. The space, designed by New York-based, Celano Design Studio, promises to be modern with a subtle nod to Miami Beach’s Art Deco architecture.

Azabu Miami Beach
Location: 161 Ocean Drive, South Beach
Projected Opening: October 2017
This NYC, Michelin-starred sushi restaurant, which is best known for its omakase menu that rotates frequently featuring fish from Japan that arrives daily, will take up shop at the Marriott Stanton South Beach. It’ll feature an Izakaya style dining room, while The Den will feature an 11-seat sushi bar, and Bar Azabu, it’ll feature Japanese-inspired presentation styles served in glassware handcrafted by a Japanese artisans.
The Taco Stand
Location: 313 NW 25th Street, Miami

This popular San Diego taqueria is invading Wynwood this fall. Called The Taco Stand it features baja tacos, California-style burritos and Mexican paletas.
Terra Mare
