Mega restaurateur Stephen Starr certainly has a love affair with South Florida. Case in point: he’s bringing yet another concept to the Sunshine State, this time it’s his Mexican concept El Vez, which will make its grand debut in January 2018.
This will be the third outpost for El Vez, which already has two locations in Philadelphia and New York, and it will be located inside the W Fort Lauderdale (401 North Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard), that already houses Starr’s steakhouse concept, Steak 954. It will join Starr’s portfolio of South Florida restaurants including Le Zoo, Makoto and Upland.
El Vez — which is named after a Mexican Elvis impersonator — says it “celebrates the festive soul of Mexican and Mexican-American culture,” which is evident by its cuisine. At the New York location dishes like guacamole topped with goat cheese, chile flakes and pistachios, tortilla soup, huitlacoche quesadillas, lamb tacos and more can be found on the menu, along with plenty of cocktails and more than 150 different types of tequilas and mezcals.
Stay tuned for more updates.
