New Orleans’ “game changing” food hall St. Roch Market is set to debut its second outpost in the Miami Design District (140 NE 39th Street, second floor) this weekend. Brought to South Florida by Will Donaldson and Barre Tanguis — the team behind the Nola location — it focuses on being a venue for up-and-coming restaurants and chefs.
St. Roch (pronounced Saint Rock) features the same minimalist interior design of its Nola counterpart, while incorporating Miami inspired touches. Encompassing 10,000-square-feet, St. Roch Market Miami features 12 food and beverage stalls showcasing cohesive design elements throughout including marble countertops, mid-century modern furnishings, white ceramic tiled floors, a coffered ceiling, and gold sconce lighting fixtures. The space also features a modern art library of 3,000 vintage edition art and design books along with a free-standing bar in the center of the space. Also on display is a rotating art exhibition, beginning with work from New Orleans’ poet, Cubsthepoet. There is both indoor and outdoor seating.
The 12 vendors selling food and beverage range from everything from vegan baked good to Southern inspired fried chicken restaurant. They include pasta concept Dal Plin; taco and ceviche focused Hot Lime; Peruvian sushi restaurant Itame; Isareli-influenced Jaffa; acai and smoothie shop Sweetblendz; Vietnamese eatery Tran An; Asian inspired Yuzu; Southern fried chicken restaurant Coop; vegan bakery Chef Chloe and the Vegan Cafe; seafood restaurant Elysian Seafood; cocktail bar The Mayhaw; and coffee outpost Sabal Coffee.
St. Roch Market opens its doors to the public tomorrow, February 24. It’ll be open daily Sunday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday nights until 11 p.m. For more information call 786-566-6656.
