It’s finally here — after years of anticipation, Thomas Keller’s restaurant, The Surf Club Restaurant by Chef Thomas Keller, has opened its doors to the public. Located in revamped The Surf Club property (9011 Collins Avenue) it features a nostalgic, American cuisine with plenty of Keller touches.

Leading the kitchen is chef de cuisine Manuel Echeverri, who did stints at The Bazaar and Toscana Divino before teaming up with Keller. The menu is split up into snacks, appetizers, seafood, pasta, and main plates. For appetizers think table-side prepared salads, oysters rockefeller, roasted bone marrow and crab cakes; while pasta options include classics like fettuccine alfredo and brocolli rabe and braised beef lasagna. As for mains dishes items such as lobster Thermidor, beef Wellington, eggplant parmesan, veal chops, and a large selection of steaks round out the menu.

The space itself continues with the old-school, bygone era feel. Designed by Martin Brudnizki Design, it features plenty blues and corals, art deco era chandeliers, timber paneling, a beaded ceiling, and mirrored details.

The Surf Club Restaurant by Chef Thomas Keller is now open Tuesday to Saturday from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Call 305-768-9440 for more information and reservations.
