After making a pivot to selling its popular dumplings online via Instagram earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team behind Zitz Sum is debuting a brick-and-mortar location to Coral Gables in January 2021 at 396 Alhambra Circle.
Spearheaded by duo Pablo Zitzmann and Giuliano Leverone — who most recently led the kitchen at the now shuttered No Name Chinese — Zitz Sum’s permanent location is self-described as a “punk rock style Asian diner.” On the menu will be Zitz Sum’s dim sum offerings, as well as some No Name Chinese favorites like the turnip cake, oysters, buns, Taiwanese hot pot, noodles, rice dishes, and more. The restaurant will continue to offer its popular ready-to-cook dumplings for delivery and take out along with the new menu.
“I’m very proud of what we were able to accomplish during the past 9 months, the community responded and supported us during these challenging times for everyone, and now it’s the time to take a step forward and build something I’ve been dreaming of for years, cooking what I love to cook and having a lot of fun,” said Zitzmann.
The 66-seat restaurant will offer indoor and outdoor seating for lunch, happy hour, and dinner. It will also feature a sake and soju based cocktail menu along with a global wine list hailing from areas like the Canary Islands, Turkey, and Chile. Stay tuned for more updates.
