OG Iron Chef, Masaharu Morimoto, is bringing his talents back to Miami this summer with the debut of Momosan Ramen & Sake, his ramen and Izakaya restaurant to the Wynwood neighborhood at 415 NW 26th Street.
Momosan, which already has outposts in Seattle, New York City, and Waikiki, features the Iron Chef’s take on Japanese ramen, grilled skewers, and Izakaya dishes, with a large focus on noodle dishes made with unique broths. Think dishes like sticky ribs, pork gyoza, soft shell bao buns, poke bowls, tonkotsu, peking duck ramen (which is served only twice a week), and Eater NY critic Robert Sietsema’s top pick, tsukemen.
The beverage menu will feature a large sake list, including a selection of Morimoto’s own sake and wine, cocktails, draft and bottled beer including Japanese style lager, Morimoto beers in collaboration with Rogue Ales, and a local brew.
“I’ve been so impressed with Wynwood during my visits to Miami and am thrilled that we found the perfect location to introduce Momosan Wynwood,” said Morimoto. “The vibrant scene here is a wonderful setting for my playful Momosan concept, which is all about enjoying ramen, yakitori, beer and sake in a fun, casual and energetic environment.”
Morimoto opened his first Momosan Ramen & Sake in New York City in 2016, followed by his second Momosan shop in Waikiki Beach in May 2018, and his third Momosan location opened in Seattle in September 2019. In 2020, he will continue to expand Momosan with locations in cities including Boston, Brooklyn, and San Jose.
However, this isn’t Morimoto’s first foray into Miami’s food scene. In 2014 he opened his namesake Morimoto restaurant in the Shelbourne Hotel, which closed just after a year in business.
No exact date has been released on the opening. Stay tuned for more details.
