One of the country’s most popular ice cream shops, Salt & Straw (246 NW 25th Street), is finally debuting is Miami location that has been years in the making this Friday, February 19. This marks the first of two locations that Salt & Straw will debut in the Magic City this year, with a forthcoming outpost in Coconut Grove debuting in March 2021.
The ice cream company originally debuted in Portland in 2011 and soared in popularity due to its unique and seasonal ice cream offerings like churro horchata, honey lavender, black olive brittle and goat cheese, alongside classics like double fold vanilla, and mint chocolate chip.
For this new outpost, In addition to its classic flavors, Salt & Straw is also bringing with it a variety of city-specific ice creams inspired by Magic City. The Miami creations include Panther Coffee chocolate tres leches; The Salty Donut guava and cheese; Wynwood Brewing mango habanero; and Exquisito chocolates hazelnut cookies and cream. A variety of seasonal flavors like bacon biscuit crumble with pickle caramel round out the menu.
The space itself was designed by Portland-based Osmose Design, featuring curved oak edges, parquet wood inlay, terrazzo flooring, and abstract waffle cone walls. And to celebrate their presence in Miami they are throwing an outdoor, socially-distant “Flavors of Miami” pop-up on Saturday, March 6 from noon to 6 p.m. The pop-up will take place in the parking lot of Pharrell Williams’ apparel store, BBC ICECREAM (255 NW 25th Street), who has designed a limited-edition Salt & Straw x Icecream collaboration t-shirt. Flavors of Miami will offer guests complimentary samples of Salt & Straw ice cream as well as booths, giveaways and tastings by local vendors featured on Salt & Straw Miami’s opening menu.
Salt & Straw’s Wynwood location debuts on Friday, February 19. The shop will be open noon to 11 p.m. daily.
