A random "sports cafe" at the Days Inn on 20 Street, Free Spirits is actually a decent-sized dive with pool tables, darts, a jukebox, and friendly staff. Worlds away from the typical SoBe scene.

Not a bad place to get lost, the larger bar connected to Kill Your Idol is great for playing pool, putting tunes on the jukebox, ordering cheap drinks, and satisfying late night cravings.

This locals hangout, a lounge with a large space (there's a main room and a back room) and comfy couches, is called "dirty Purdy" by locals for a reason. Go for reggae on Mondays, a nightcap on any night of the week, or for Chocolate Sundays, one of the best, sweaty, hip-hop parties in Miami and find out for yourself.

A perfect hangout for locals in the Gables area, this sometimes rowdy bar is great for watching games and grabbing a cheap drink any time.

This place not only has a great happy hour (Mon-Sat 3 to 7 p.m.) with $3 craft beer cans and a $5 food menu, but their chicken wings have also recently been dubbed "the best" by Miami New Times. Also cool: they host trivia nights.

Though it closes in just a few days, there's no way we couldn't include Tobacco Road in this map. Arguably Miami's most iconic dives, the 102 year old bar is the ideal neighborhood spot with plenty of cheap booze and all sorts of entertainment.
