Seven (Boozy) Ways to Spice Up Your Night in Miami

These cocktails bite.

View as Map

bIn the past you'd equate the Magic City with a commonplace mojito here, a repugnantly sweet daquiri there. But Miami's cocktail renaissance has us feeling some type of way- watery-eyed, tongue tingly and above all else, hot. Like, really hot. Jalapeño hot, some might say.

Spicy drinks are a thing now, and it's no longer an oddity to add a little bit of sriracha to your Bloody Mary, or some cayenne pepper to your margarita. There's nothing wrong with a little punch in your palette, so we've mapped out seven of Miami's spiciest drinks from north to south, because a little spice never hurt nobody.

If you’re just starting to dabble into the world of spicy cocktails, Spice of Love is a good one to try, with fresh jalapeño, passionfruit purée, mango essence, and premium vodka. It’s light with a kick.

2. The Setai

2001 Collins Ave
Miami Beach, FL 33139
(305) 520-6000

The Setai is one of the most regal places to grab a cocktail down Collins, and if you want one with a kicker, their Chili Passion Martini is a keeper. It’s one part chili-infused Russian standard, another part passion fruit-infused rum, with passion fruit pulp, ginger syrup and plenty of chili flakes muddled around.

The name might be a little funny, but there’s nothing funny about the ingredients in the Tipp Topp: mezcal, passion fruit, lime agave, mint and, above all else, habanero.

4. R House Wynwood

R House makes a mean signature margarita that’s as sweet as it is spicy, with jalapeño infused Espelon tequila, Cointreau, fresh pineapple puree and a dash of lime juice, freshly squeezed of course

Noriega’s back, and he’s back with a vengeance. Take some Jose Traditional (Cuervo’s higher grade), toss it back with a pineapple cilantro jalapeño chaser and you have Noriega’s Revenge, which is just as spicy as it is sweet.

6. db Bistro Moderne

255 Biscayne Blvd Way
Miami, FL 33131

The habanero shrub inside the mescal-based Fuego Tropical gives the drink some real flavor, and the passion fruit counteracts it to give it a bit of sweetness.

Haven’s got a FeVer, although this one’s not unwelcomed. Lychee, pear and prosecco make it a brunch-worthy drink, however it’s the jalapeño that makes it one wild ride through your taste buds.
