“Putting on the Pounds (LBS) Bake Sale” Benefiting Restaurant Relief

If you missed out on last weekend’s bake sale fundraiser hosted by SOBEWFF founder Lee Schrager, you’re in luck as it returns this weekend with many more food and drink options. This Sunday, May 3, from noon until “sold out” (which last week was in a matter of minutes) hungry guests can purchase $25 boxes of Night Owl Cookies, a Cuban Sunday Survival Kit filled with pastelitos, croquettes, and mini-Medianoche sandwiches by Finka Table & Tap, baked ziti from Macchialina, or a pre-made Equelecua cocktail mixer that’s meant to be mixed with Havana Club Blanco rum and is enough for 10 cocktails. All proceeds will go towards the SOBEWFF® & FIU Chaplin School Hospitality Industry Relief Fund. Address for the event will be posted on Saturday on Schrager’s Instagram, and exact change for purchases is requested.

Cocktails available for pick up or delivery

Even though restaurants and bars are now once again open to the public across the Sunshine State, thanks to packaging licenses and a lifted ban on alcohol delivery — restaurants are still able to feature cocktails for both pick-up and delivery. Bartenders are getting creative with everything from batches of their most popular cocktails, to full make DIY kits that just need added alcohol.

Where to find the best new spots in the Magic City

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this has been less than an ideal time to debut a new restaurant in South Florida — but it can still be possible. Below are 11 notable new eateries in the Magic City that have opened their doors over the past few months.

Editor’s Note: A number of South Florida restaurants have resumed indoor and outdoor dining services. However, this should not be taken as endorsement for onsite dining, as there are still safety concerns: for updated information on coronavirus cases in your area, please visit the Florida Health Department’s website. Studies indicate that there is a lower exposure risk when outdoors, but the level of risk involved with patio dining is contingent on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines.
Because weekends are meant for brunch

While the state of dining in Miami is tricky right now, it can still be achieved. Throughout the country cities like Miami have suspended dining room service to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, with takeout and delivery the new reality for many restaurants. But that doesn’t mean we still can’t get our brunch on — and luckily for us, that’s still possible with multiple spots offering takeout and delivery options. Whether a craving for pancakes or eggs or even chicken and waffles, these 13 Miami restaurants has the city covered.

As always in these times, check the social media handles and websites for details like menu items and delivery hours as they may change as these restaurants adapt to these new business models. Also, always remember to tip well and call before using a delivery platform such as Postmates or UberEats, which comes with hefty fees for consumers and restaurants.

This year, as restaurants have suspended indoor dining service to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, takeout and delivery is the new reality for many restaurants. So many restaurants have pivoted to offering their Miami Spice menus to-go instead. Here are 14 restaurants offering Miami Spice options that can be enjoyed from the comfort of ones home via pickup or delivery.
